Mohamed Wasia Charinda was born in the Nakapanya village in the Ruvuma region in southern Tanzania in the year of 1947. He attended and completed primary school. Charinda’s teacher of painting was Hashim Mruta who was the first generation Tingatinga style painter. Charinda started painting in 1975. He usually paints village people in different scenes as well as wild animals.
