Daudi Tingatinga is the only son of the most known Tanzanian painter Edward Saidi Tingatinga. The word Tingatinga is used also as a term for the whole art movement. But the life of Daudi was not easy. His father died when he was a baby leaving behind his wife and two children. (the other child is Daudi´s sister Martina). He was living in poverty and his mother Agatha have had not enough money for food, not speaking about education. It was a good luck that Mzee Lumumba showed to Daudi how to paint because without him the only son of Tingatinga wouldn´t do other jobs than painting.
